Had the pleasure of a few visitors this week that I'd like to let you know about....

Melody and her brother Everest came by and visited the Atlantis set after Melody won a charity auction. Her prize was a "walk on" role during the episode "The Game" (I believe), so you all have to keep an eye out for her lingering in hallways and looking wise and important before Ancient consoles. Melody was a bit timid with yelling "Action" at first, but after snarkastic abuse from me (that's what I'm there for) she was screaming it out like the best directors I've worked with. Melody and Everest were a very classy duo and even went so far as to leave us all thank-you cards and a book...which Jane has already stolen because "oh goody! I always meant to read that one". Thanks to Melody for looking out for others and getting herself a day of sitting around listening to me flub lines!

Next up we had Angela...poor Angela, who for some unknown reason, identifies with McKay and actually admits to it! She finally explained the term "Thunk" to me and showed off her McKay teddy bear while I was "in hair", which generally consists of moving what little there is around to make it look like there's more there, a highly technical science that requires a vast team of highly trained professionals. I ended up stealing teddy's voice box and recording my own Angela-specific abuse for it to spew when poked in the stomach. Not many Teddy's in the world come packing that kind of snark! I have to remind Angela, to pay attention to her day job as she works on satellites. I don't fancy one of those things crashing down because she's drifting off on one of her "thunks"! Angela had also won a charity auction so was "walking on" dressed in medeaval sackcloth as a member of the McKay worshipping country of Geldar...a wonderful country decorated with flags and painting of me...Heaven! Thanks to Angela for her charitable donations and her abuse for me not attending more conventions...please take care of that bear!

Angela had to share the set with Jane's father, Mr. Don Loughman who has told me many times to start calling him Don instead of Mr. Loughman...thus Mr. Don Loughman. He can be seen in "The Game" working hard with quill and parchment while McKay tries to persuade the beautiful and talented Laura Harris that while he was not a God, he was just as smart as one. Mr Don Loughman, by the way, is 86 years old, the father of the most brilliant and attractive woman on the face of the planet (Jane) and watches both SG1 and Atlantis every week with his friends Kathy & Paul...the creators of a mean curry buffet I might add. I think they're going to be rather jealous when they see their weekly guest up on the big screen (they've got a great TV) writing up McKay's country of Geldar's plans for war against Sheppard's feeble country of Hallona, and chatting up the blonde background at the same time. There really is nothing like a good English curry!

Last and least...only in stature...was the beautiful Liz who came to us from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. What a treat she got! A very grumpy McKay (and Hewlett for that matter) in a full space suit with a brutal day of techno-panic for the episode "The Ark". You won't be seeing Liz in any walk-on roles, but you should know that I worked her like a dog doing all the digital effects shots. You see, when they shoot a scene that requires digital effects, they have to get a clean, actor-less plate shot. I'm not sure of the specifics (I guess I better find out) but it requires some poor self-conscious member of the FX team to stand before the cameras holding a grey ball on a stick for a few seconds. The unfortunate soul then has to move the ball around a bit, spin it to reveal it's shiny silver side and then get laughed at and generally mocked by the crew. Liz has changed all that. She has now elevated the grey ball into an art form, and as a result got more than a few well deserved standing ovations. So much for me trying to make her life misery! She also convinced Martin Wood our director to let her have a go at the directing side of things. She quickly learned how to deal with difficult actors (I was the only one there for most of the day so she learned quickly) and soothed me about my performance with calming words like "That was only slightly terrible" and "good enough". All the best to her and her family. That said, I expect to be working with her again shortly. I've made her promise to hire me when she gets out of film school. Admitedly Liz is only 15 years old, but I need all the work I can get!

Peace (I'm a hippy now)

First to post!!! At least while I am typing this out. I guess checking this blog 50+ times a day worked out for me. A visit to the Atlantis set would be a dream come true for me, especially meeting David Hewlett. ;) I could not think of anything better. I think I could deal with the snarcasm because my husband is exactly like McKay, and my kids even agree. I would be pretty good at sending it right back.
I am so glad that SGA was renewed for a fourth season. Way to go.
I am looking forward to McKay and Mrs. Miller. Two McKays, what more could one ask for....

Keep up the fantastic work David.

As always, sending you much love and admiration.

For those of us who have to bid in Canadian dollars... :( (although the looney's looking a tad better!) Still, the charities get the much needed cash and the winners get a true treat!
Through an un-named method, we're actually up to date on this season's episodes - not that we're not planning on watching when they FINALLY show up on TMN - and every one of them has been remarkable in one way or another. No weak eps at all.
And Tammy, do you know what would be worse than not meeting Mr. Hewlett? Meeting him and then NOT REMEMBERING! Mind you, it was a charity auction at a Toronto Trek con sometime back in the day, and there was this fun guy auctioning a script for this show I'd never watched, something about Kung Fu, and he practically sat in my lap...ran into him in the elevator and exchanged pleasentries, and then wondered why the irritating guy in SG1 looked so dang familiar...

Gah. Colour me dumb.

And congrats on the renewal.

OMG, you crack me up. I only found it the other day what thunk...and whump meant, I'm a fan of three years, but sadly behind with all these new fangle phrases.

*tsk tsk* Hands up everyone who identify with McKay! Yep, I thought so.

Jesus! You reprogrammed the bear!?
You are McKay aren't you?

I'm glad you posted, this weekend seems to be sucking (not in a good way) royally for most people. The post made me smile. I'd share my Cold Stone ice cream with you if I could, but my cat at the last of it.

At 7:01 PM, Blogger elfgirl said...

Ha! My husband, also named David, has been gifted that book as well. (By his sister, which I guess really ought to have warned me..) Jane wins at life for stealing it from you.

Common Ground was excellent by the way -- my favorite episode this season so far. McKay was terribly cute, acting all Sheppard-y. And Ronon! With the looming! Er...I'll stop now.

Have a good week!

At 7:05 PM, Blogger dee said...

I have to say that you are a very evil man with all the spoilers for these epsiodes that we won't see until next year sometime...but keep 'em coming. Rather have hints and teases than nothing at all.

Congrats on the renewal for season four! Need any new writers up there?

Keep up the good work and all of the McKay snark!

PS: Should I even mention the McKay Moose in my office at work? Or the picture of it on my blog? Nope. Not going to do anything like that. Not even going to mention the Ronon Bear a friend of mine has either. Neither has a voice box though...

At 7:33 PM, Blogger wordplay said...

*laughs* That book has seen many readings in our household, although we've often joked that to be truly accurate about the naughty habits of young boys, David's mother needs to spend a lot more time training young David to keep his hands out of his pants.

Sounds like great fun was had on the set this week; glad to hear that you enjoy visits as much as your visitors.

I have to say, I have no idea what "Thunk" is...kinda afraid to

A very big congrats on Atlantis getting renewed for a 4th season.

At 8:09 PM, Blogger Neth Dugan said...

You know, I just spotted this whilst I was talking to a friend of mine, pointed it out to her and we've just had a good time giggling. Then we went 'uh oh' after finding out some one had explaned 'thunk' to you.

As odd as it may seem, it really does sound fun to be snarked at all day by irritating actors who can reprogram bears.

And I can't wait to see those planets, I'm rooting for yours, by the way. Much Sheppard love but, Long Live McKay, all hail the Genius.

But seriously, some people do identify with McKay. I don't entierly. Well, I do in part but the guy is so different to me, he handled being different and probably picked on by the 'cool kids' differently to me so heck, not total identification. But it's nice to see some one you can at least partially identify up on screen, as a great character who regularly saves the day whilst still being true to himself.

But yeah, much laughter abound on this entry, and you could sell those bears!

Note to self- do not drink coffee while reading this blog. Somebody owes me a new laptop!

Thanks for the spoilers and actually keeping us "little people" informed. Shine on, you cray diamond.

Sounds like a wonderful day on set for everyone involved! Well, except for Teddy who had his speaking bits reprogrammed and now is terribly snarky when poked in the stomach! Woe. I'm really chuffed that you take the time to let us know what is going on in the life of you.

At 8:35 PM, Blogger Erynn said...

You evil bear reprogrammer you! Sounds like you had a lot of fun with the guests on set. And their bears. And books. And various and sundry other things.

Yes, yes. I can definitely see McKay as a God, though a deeply flawed and ultimately futile one. After all, he blows up solar systems -- or rather 5/6th of a solar system anyway. Not too many folks can pull that one off.

Can't wait to see more of you guys. The last few eps have been amazing and fantastic, and I'm waiting with bated breath (not baited -- I'm not fishy) for McKay & Mrs. Miller. Yay for multiple McKays!

Hi David!

You are more than welcome to come on over to the GateWorld Thunk! I have deleted all my really *naughty* posts... I have! The Mods made me. Lol!

Would you mind telling Martin Gero he has an appreciation thread. *g*

I heard all about your behaviour on set during The Game... nothing but nice things.

Thanks for posting and any chance you may actually tell us something about McKay and Mrs Miller!!! Other then the lovely Kate Hewlett makes her debut in the Stargate verse.

I can't wait! *g*

You know, reading about these auction winners (or any kind of contest that allows you to get a "walk on" role on your favourite TV show) actually makes me a bit depressed... but maybe that's just the green jealousy monster in me screaming out!

I understand that having some overly excited foreigner chasing you around the set can be annoying, but... why can't there be these kind of things for international fans?!

And hold on...
Dude, you actually reprogrammed that teddy bear?! For real?!
I'm scared of even consider asking you how on earth you've managed to do it...
How incredibly McKay of you, mr. Hewlett! =D

I am totally looking forward to 'the Game' now. You make it all sound brilliantly funny, even silver ball fx shots.
I must admit I too have been identifying with McKay lately. I passed out at work last week, and got stared at quite openly when I told the triage nurse I passed out 'from manly hunger'. I assumed it was probably the manly part that confused him, but it turns out he was just surprised I was an SGA fan too (I guess I don't look the type?).

Of course I admit to loving McKay, he's snarktastic! =) Of course, I also admit to loving Beckett and Zelenka too, but that's neither here nor there.

Regarding the satellites... it's not mine that you have to look out for. They'll burn up like pretty little meteors on re-entry. It's things like the ISS and Hubble that you have to worry about.

And you know, if you really get the itch to attend a North American convention, there is DragonCon in Atlanta, GA. They have an excellent British Sci-Fi track with Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Blake's 7 and even Tomorrow People for when you're not working. Plus the dealer room is HUGE; I'm sure you can find all kinds of Doctor Who stuff to spend your money on. ;)

Anyway, I may have said this once, but it bears repeating: Thank you! You and the rest of the cast and crew have given me an experience I enjoyed tremendously and will never forget

Man you crack me up.

It would be interesting trying to explain a "thunk" obsession to someone. I have been wondering how much you might read around on gateworld. Those ship threads get pretty nuts. You have some crazy fans... Did I just admit I'm crazy? crap.

A lot of people really do identify with McKay. He's a hero to a lot of geeks out there that wish they could speak their minds as freely as he does. Myself included. You know it's bad when your own mother tells you you're having a "McKay moment" and to stop being so snarky. :P

I wish I could visit the Atlantis set... heck, I wish I could leave the state of Michigan once in a while. I'm still trying to get to a convention. That whole costing money thing is always a problem year after year...

Anyway, I guess I should go to bed. Thanks for the update! And have fun learning more about the secret language your fans speak in. :P

i have nothing witty or snarky to say. currently distracted by hurricane headed toward my house. it's craptastic!

jealous of person that has snarky bear. *agrees with other person that thinks this could be a source of income for charity. wonders if snarky bear person is willing to create a line of snarky animal products. puts in order for snarky squirrel.*

on-set stories make me miss my roswellian days. damn you WB for destroying my show! queen hussy, where art thou?

the roswellian fiasco makes me glad that SG1 and SGA were not controlled by the WB. that independence and creativity by the writers and crew have led to awesome shows. wonders if remainings issues with the WB correlate to unhappiness with SG1 status.

must admit that it's the dialogue and writing that got me addicted to the stargate world. love shows that snark theirselves.

wonders if david and jane will sell their movie online. thinks this would be a good idea. has check ready to mail. i give you $15, you send me movie?

thinks ebay and 'a dog's breakfast' might be good place to start. i like ebay. i have an account. i have $15. hint, hint.

thinks that fictional mckay and actual human elysee sewell are twins...seperated by birth and reality. she snarks more than mckay!

to the auction winners: hang on to every memory. what you have is special and an unique private moment. i think it's totally awesome. none of you (including david) had to share your thoughts and experiences with the world. being the kind people that you are, you included other fans in your joy. i thank you very much- it's greatly appreciated. not much happiness in today's world- i thank you for sharing it with us and making our day brighter with warm thoughts. and i'm not to proud to admit i'm jealous. LOL

ponders that i know two davids whose last name begins with an H. david hewlett is a third person with same format. thinks this could be a conspiracy. wonders if someone could pull off a thesis on same subject.

currently singing "jane says" by jane's addiction. think of that song every time david mentions jane. i love that song, so it's all good.

side note to people with cable: youtube. "mckay and mrs. miller." that's all i'm sayin'.

thanks david and snarkers for making me smile during the upcoming craptastic week. i really don't want to do the whole "dorothy" thing again. maybe i can feed ernesto to snarky bear, eh?

I'm rather envious - I would love to see the sets (I don't really care for being an extra) and meet the writing team and the cast.

Yes, pity it's a holiday next weekend or something - not American, have no clue, just found out - but I'm looking for to McKay and Mrs Miller too. 2 McKays tormenting the poor folks on Atlantis...

Poor Rodney - he has his sister and temporal/dimensional twin to compete with - is it going him a complex?

Uh, that's an interesting pic BTW... uh I dont't know many people who willingly dig their nose so publicly but uh you look cool! Can't see anything wrong with the hair, matey.

Take care :)

I tried to convince my husband that we needed to go to Vancouver for our holidays this year. He was having non of it. Ho hum, he knows me too well.

It's Atlantis year 3 and you just found out what "thunk" means? David, David, David. So busy working and so unaware of your fandom. That's kinda cute, actually. Oh, wait, that's a "thunk" comment, best to post that elsewhere.

You're just tempting us with all these spoilers, aren't you? Not that we weren't going to watch in any case. What does it take to be a ratings family anyway? Everyone I know watches both Stargate programs. Well, I do hang out with an exceptionally intelligent group of people...

Another congratulations on the Atlantis renewal.

And I also want some Hewlett convention appearances in the States. I vote for DragonCon, too. I think Paul had a good time last year and Rachel is coming this year.

Thanks so much for these little peeks into your world.

(By the way, what book is that? Don't make me take a print of that page to the bookstore to find out.)

Peace back at ya.

McKay isn't so bad isn't he ? I'm sure a lot of fan could stand him easily, if they treat his ego with the respect it deserves. Such a genius must be considered with admiration !
Will you write an "Atlantis Set Touristic Guide" ? I'm sure a lot of person will buy it, you could show them McKay's bedroom, McKay's coffee mug, McKay's bathroom, McKay's fave sandwich, McKay's teddy bear...and by the way Sheppard's shampoo, Beckett's Scotch bottle (oh, please, don't be naive, how could he heal Wraith without a drink before ?) and of course Teyla's big sticks and Weir's armchair...

Anyways, every stargate thing a gater could get, he'll gate it !

Just in case you were wondering whether anyone is interested in your ramblings about work, I personally love reading stuff like this. You have a real flair for storytelling (and a very engaging style) that makes your posts a lot of fun to read. I suppose it doesn't hurt that you're writing about one of my favorite TV shows, but I have a feeling I'd enjoy your posts anyway.

Now that I'm done with the fawning and fangirling portion of my comment, I have to give you a wag of the finger for not giving a spoiler warning at the beginning of your post. You didn't spoil me any, since I've already read about The Game over at GateWorld (And let me just say, it does a fangirl's heart good to find out that McKay and Sheppard have been playing this game for two years. It's nice to know that the two of them have a friendship beyond what we see in the episodes.), but I imagine there are a lot of spoiler virgins who didn't know anything at all before reading your post. Just a little something to be aware of when interacting with the fandom.

Thanks again for posting!

I think she also asked you about the possibility of showing a certain movie at P2. No, that's not a hint, that's an elbow shoved in your side. Fans can get violent, you know ;-)

Enjoy your week! (ah, don't you hate it when people tell you that at the beginning of your working week?!)

Scooter, I feel your pain ;-)

I don't know what "thunk" is either - Though I think I bought one from Ikea last week.

Speaking of McKay-alikes, I can nominate my brother. He's a Computer Physicist (he got the family brain cell) and even wears socks that say "shush, genius at work."

I'm so proud. I think.

Congradulations on your 4th season!

Is your new movie likely to be released via DVD anytime soon?

Your word "Thunk" most likely originates from here in the Southern US. We have our own completely unique list of words and pronunciations. You should check out Jeff Foxworthy's list of southern vocabulary.
Do you know what the most famous southern last words are?.... "Hey Yall, Watch this" =)

Welcome to hippyhood, i'm sure you'll find it enjoyable ;)

Also? Two McKays!?! OMG HOT! These little spoilers are evil. Keep'em comin' please. Thanking you in anticipation.

Um....i also don't know what 'thunk' is. Frankly i'm a little scared finding out.

Anyway, thanks for the update. It is unusual for the great and the good to mix with the mere mortals so for that(and everything you do for that matter) you are very cool.

I will stop with the gushing now *g*

Sending good vibrations

First of all many congrats on getting renewed for season 4. I think I scared my family a bit with all the squeeing I did over that.
Again with the spoilers, that aren't actually spoilers, just teasers. You truly are evil. I've been avoiding the spoilers for this season, but now I'm going to have to go and find out more about the episode "the game" because McKay as a God. That is just too funny.
Anyway, loving season 3 so far, definately the best season by far. Can't wait for more.

Peace (Woohoo, I'm not the only hippy around here.)

Take care :)

Hi David :)

It sounds like you had a lot of fun on the set with your visitors.
I wish I could have been there too (of course so does everybody else here)

So you reprogrammed the teddy bear :)
Nice :) It's good that you like teddy bears because there will be more of them in your future.

I know some friends of mine will bring there Stargate Teddy's to P2.
And I will bring my Borg Teddybear.

It should be interesting to see if you can reprogram the BorgTeddy before he assimilates you ;)

He's allready made some victims in the SGA cast- Rachel,Loyd and David N have allready been assimilated.
And I'm hoping you will be next.

Don't worry, it won't hurt :D

Thanks again for the update. Looking forward to McKay and Mrs. Miller--two weeks, drat! I can't very well say two Mckays are better than one because the one is good enough for me! :D

It's a pleasure hearing people relate to McKay--I, myself, do the same, I'm afraid. :D And proud of it.

Have fun being McKay and I look forward to the newest update!

I love your spoilers for the Stargate seasons *gg*.
My daughter is waiting for an visit of you to a german con. I'm sure many fans here do. I can't travel to it, but I hope for the other fans.

Wow, I really envy these people who could spend a day on the set of SGA – although, being near you and your snarcasm can be hard sometimes, I think. ;)

And yes, thanks to Angela we already knew what you did to the Rodney bear! You bearnapped him, gave him a new recording – a pretty Hewletty thing to do I think. Well, I have to admit that it’s pretty cool that the bear also has your voice now.

Now you know what “thunk” means? That took you three years? Well, you live, you learn. ;)
Angela warned us that she told you about the thunk thread - I will not go and change any of my xxxx posts there (wait, where was my life again? Ah there, under the sofa…), what’s done is done. *g* But since this whole fandom thing must be overwhelming or even be a bit frightening sometimes, let me say that we’re not always a bunch of silly girls. We’re still pretty harmless, and we can be serious too. If we try real hard. Drop by and visit us someday if you like. Or probably not, might be better for your mental health.

So, your lovely sis Kate also has a blog now? Online Hewletts United, hu? *g*
Your nephew is really a cutie, by the way.

And please don’t ever stop these sweet love declarations for Jane! Not many guys talk about that so openly - I’m glad to hear that you two are still so in love! Even if Jane steals books. :)

Identify with McKay? Hard, I think. But he’s definitely my fav character on SGA. In real life I’d probably hate him, especially if he was my boss. But as long as I can just watch His Snarkiness on TV he’s adorable and really the most interesting character. Weird, this attraction.
Wish TPTB would grant Rodney a few more serious scenes and a bit more success though. People always laugh at him when he screws up, but they hardly praise him if he does something right. He may have a big ego and believe that he’s godlike, but underneath it all he’s craving attention and approval I think.

By the way, don’t worry about the hair, there’s still plenty left. Could be worse. Or the stylists really make a pretty terrific job…

Thanks for the update! You have a great way of writing, reading your entries is always a funny and interesting experience. This new entry and the crazy pic really made my day! I’ll probably lose my job now as I should be working and not reading your blog, but hey, one has got to have priorities… XD

As someone else pointed out, we're really back with Teddy bears again... Watch out for the flood of recordable (or mutilated) teddies next birthday.

It's so great to hear all the wonderful stories from days on the set with the charity auction winners and Liz. I bet for the most part they had a ball! Their experiences with you must have been horrid. you really must stop being so snarky to the guests Mr Hewlett...I'm so glad they were able to let your know what your acting is REALLY like... The directing comments were certainly called for, after all only a director can make an actor perform properly, eh?

Can't wait for the new episode. Loving your.. er your directors'... work. ;)

Oh and thanks for all the spoilers.

Now... how do I replace the recording in my daughter's Build-A-Bear with an audio-cap of Rodney? Hmm. She knows your voice, you see, and she's fond of saying "I know, can you believe that?!"

Anyway My dream has always (as in ever since SGA started) to meet you :D lucky people. Either you or Michael Shanks....:p I call you Michael, and David Nykl my geek squad.....cuz you play adorable geeks that I love. anyway Snarcasm is my first language...then I learned english....:p though Snarcasm is an english based language. well one my last thought before I post this...I'd ike to say you have earned spot number noe on my Favorite actors list :p

It's good to hear that the guests had a great time this past week. Although, who wouldnt?

Im really getting anxious to see all these new episodes your taunting us about, but alas Canada has only aired season 1 of SGA and so Im first looking forward to seeing "Grace Under Pressure" - Mckay and Carter make great episodes!

And a bit for everyone else, the David books (for toddlers) are by David Shannon, and are quite humourous.

Love and support always.

Quick question? Did you get the pressie from The #1 David Hewlett fansite/Loving David Hewlett forum? We sent out the birthday comment booklet among other little trinkets. Haven't heard about that as of yet and wanted to know that it arrived since I sent it out in April.

Several people here have asked what "thunk" actually means. Here's my impression:

Roaringmice is shopping at Tesco, looking at, say, their lovely selection of pre-prepared Chicken Tikka Masala. She feels someone move in beside her, and hears a male voice ask her, "Can you pass that to me?" Turning toward the man, she realises that it's David Hewlett. Numbly, she tries to smile, and hands the Chicken over. He thanks her and turns away.

Thus, THUNK. As if she's been hit by a blow to the head.

As for "whump", which some also asked about: that's the mental or physical abuse of a character. For example, if you saw SGA's most recent episode, Joe Flanagan's character, Sheppard, got seriously whumped. Can also be used as such: that episode had some serious whumpage.

Hope this helped.

: The sound made when one hits the ground due to a superb male/female specimen.

In other words, drool-worthy.

whump: A fandom term, commonly used by fan fiction authors (particularly in the Stargate genre) to describe physical and/or mental abuse laid on a character in a story.

Interestingly, if you google "thunk whump definition", the first link is to a McKay/Hewlett Thunk Thread entry on GateWorld.

Oh, and I just noticed this, but I think you want to be a "hippie", David. If you're "hippy", that suggests a wideness is a certain area of your body. Which thunkers appreciate. The body part, not the there-is-definitely-none wideness.

At 2:34 PM, Blogger crazymom said...

So, is Mr. Loughman single? He made me think of my 85-year-old friend Janie, who showed me up in Spanish class last night by doing her homework when I didn't. I did write a very nice composition about Stargate Atlantis in Spanish, but that only got me the evil eye from the teacher since I didn't have the actual assignment finished. She relented a little when I promised to bring chocolate cake AND my verb conjugations next week. She even took my composition and agreed to correct it for me, although there was some eye-rolling involved.

We love McKay because he is so funny, and perhaps because my 15-year-old son resembles him so much. He told his Digital Works teacher today that she took way to too long to get to the point when explaining copyrights to the class. He assures me he said it politely, but he also said she didn't seem to appreciate it. At least he was polite...

Well I'm telling you my l:life and I think it's not intersting you...

Nothing to say it's just so terrible and astonishing. But when I see my friends of the FFFDH (like Vive les Unas or Lilow our *ball* ;) ) I ask myself if they don't have one.

Identifie with McKay... Why not but not at all, just for some defect (or quality :p).

I'm jus thinking... If you want to see a world with flag of you (I agree with with you, it might be Heaven. But only with flag of me :p).

I speak, I speak (not a lot in fact but I can't found my words).
To finish (end of your martyrdom) SG's fan are speaking a lot about the hypothetic end of SG1 and the fourth season of SGA. Lots of them say that it's unfair that SG1 stops. Why? The serie has lasted ten years! It's much. (Less than The small house in the meadow (good title?) ). And, maybe, some actors will able to play in SGA.
All things has an end. Why not SG1?
Life continues and all serie pass but we remind the best like SG1 .
(lots of work with Atlantis to be on the first place of the podium... a little... just continue!).

Dear Mr. Hewlett,
I was curious about how the atmosphere is on both SGA and SG1 sets after SciFi has announced they will not continue SG1? Please don't get me wrong but since Mr. Anderson has left the show it has felt different in a not so positive way for me and when he is on, they write him looking stupid. O'Neill is not or ever has been stupid just a little dense when it comes to Carters explanations of the universe. I also miss General Hammond, he kept the other characters grounded and he is a good straight man for O'Neill. The storyline is pretty good and I would like to see more of the Ori but with less silliness from the maim characters except Teal'c who is never silly.
So what is everybody's thoughts.

Anyway, enough of that. (She didn't explain "squee" did she?;)

"You see, when they shoot a scene that requires digital effects, they have to get a clean, actor-less plate shot. I'm not sure of the specifics (I guess I better find out) but it requires some poor self-conscious member of the FX team to stand before the cameras holding a grey ball on a stick for a few seconds."

I didn't see any comments on this; it's so they can get the lighting and reflections right. Digital elements stand out like a cardboard cutout if the lighting color and direction don't match, and nothing screams FAKE like a reflective surface with no actual reflections on it. (Yeah, knowledge I got. Money & connections, not so much;)

Hi! I just wanted to say, I love you more than is conceivable, and probably more than is natural given the fact that I've never actually met you *grins sheepishly* My roommate introduced me to Stargate Atlantis last year, and I adored it instantly (mostly because of you. A little bit because of Joe, but mostly because of you). I was driven to seek out other shows/films you've been in. So far, due to my general lack of free time and disposable income, the only one I've successfully obtained so far is "Boa vs. Python." I thought it was a cinematic masterpiece (I'm only half-kidding, actually...I was crazily entertained by it). Next I'm planning on finding "Cube" and "Scanners 2." Seriously, I'd watch you do anything; you just have this amazing expressiveness... Alright, sorry, didn't mean to fawn quite so much.

My roommate and I can't wait for "McKay and Mrs. Miller," partly because ever since we heard of the episode we've been hoping to see you act with your sister (I bet awesomeness runs in the family).

I'm sure you probably won't even read this (you have 100+ comments on every entry, after all), but if you do, know you have a ridiculously avid fan who loves your work in all forms, especially in the form of Dr. Mckay :)

p.s. I envy the people who got to visit you on the SGA set to a monumental degree. Sounds like you helped them have an awesome time (even if you call it 'abuse').

Totally irrelevant but most important announcement:

When I was awaiting my medical discharge from the Army due to an injury, I found myself channeling my inner McKay. It was very theraputic, lol. I can definately see why people identify with the character. He's realistic in the way he deals with a lot of the situations, as in I think most people would react the same way rather than be cool and calm.
I am a definate McKay fan, and the funny thing is, when I was in the Army, nine times out of ten the other soldiers I talked to agreed.
We like McKay becuase he says what everyoen is thinking and no one has the nerve to say.
So, continue to be awesome, Mr. Hewlett, and I eagerly await the show each Friday.

To whom it may concern,

I get the feeling that you intend your posts to be amusing. I give you an A for effort (though I've always wondered - shouldn't that be an E for effort?), and to make your attempts worthwhile, I will humor you with a laugh. ha. haha. haha...cough...ha. Wait, I can do better... HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

There you go.

;-) I am only messin with ya. You're the bomb. Love what you do with McKay, etc. etc. (Not that you'll ever actually SEE this post, since it will be lost among the plethora of posts from all your other loyal subjects, but what the hell).

Sincerely and with hugs,

So you may have more youngin's bossing you around before you know it. Keep up the good work, and I hope you come visit us at Toronto Trek real soon! (Hint Hint)
